The Bulbs + MUGSTAR at Static Gallery – 8pm, Thursday 4th August

Neil’s new band The Bulbs is both a musical concept and a real band which aims to marry adventurous music-making with information and sound samples chosen to challenge the audience to look around them at the world in which they are living. It aims to ‘switch on listeners like light bulbs’ to question conventional wisdom and corporate media propaganda.

Joey Zeb (session percussionist and drummer with legendary underground Liverpool dub institution The Mighty Zeb). Joey, a founder member of Zeb, has his roots in prog dub. He has sessioned on various reggae, rock, folk projects and met Neil during the highly respected N F I electronic improv sessions. He is currently playing with proggers The Romans and dub hop outfit The Corinthians.

Famous for having recorded the last ever Peel Session Mugstar  have released music on Lancashire & Somerset Records, Trensmat RecordsSea Records and Critical Mass Records and have toured with MogwaiFucked UpAcid Mothers Temple,OneidaClinicMike Watt amongst others. Both bands share the capacity to create soundtracks for imaginary movies of the mind. Coupled with projected visuals and compelling samples this is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
