Neil's latest recording 'The Smoky God' will be released on CD and digital on Friday 8th March 2024. It is a 32-minute instrumental concept album based upon Willis George Emerson's 1908 book 'The Smoky God, or a Voyage Journey to the Inner Earth'. Melding propulsive and epic progressive rock with systems (minimalist) music in equal measure, it is Neil's most symphonic and electronic statement to date. Liverpool Irish Festival 2023 has commissioned a song by Úna Quinn and Neil Campbell, 'Those Roads'. It is 175-years since c.1.3m people came, from the island of Ireland, through the gates of Clarence Dock and into Liverpool. Of those, many -c.300,000 stayed and others travelled to far flung corners of the world. Ireland’s population is still to recover from this period of loss. On 5th May 2023, Neil will release a new album for digital download, 'Journey Into Space', a musical suite inspired by the poetry of Sean Street. A collaborative project, its live performance (part of the Liverpool Writing on the Wall Festival 2023) will bring together a sequence of poetry readings with live and recorded instrumental music. Seán Street and Neil Campbell return to the Writing on the Wall Festival with a new collaborative music and poetry project, celebrating the publication of Seán’s latest poetry collection, Journey into Space (Shoestring Press). On Saturday 10th Dec 2022, to celebrate the release of recent recordings 'Berlin Suite & Other Short Stories' and 'Alive in Prohibition', Neil will perform, along with special guest cellist Nicole Collarbone, an afternoon musical recital of original music for guitar and cello, and for solo guitar. On Friday 23rd September 2022 Neil Campbell and cellist Nicole Collarbone released a new digital EP, 'Berlin Suite and Other Short Stories', available exclusively on Bandcamp at https://neilcampbell.bandcamp.com/album/berlin-suite-other-short-stories. The 21 minute long EP comprises three pieces for cello and guitar along with two guitar duets. Included in the selection are the 10 minute mini-epic Berlin Suite and live favourites Ode to a Penguin and Hoobie Tango.
